SPS Student Government
The mission of the SPS Student Government (SPSSG) is to create a unified community for all students across SPS programs. The SPSSG is elected by their peers to represent each master's program as well as the student body at large and advocates for student interests before the SPS administration, faculty, alumni, and the greater Columbia University Community.
SPSSG is essential to the continuance of high standards of academic excellence and professional leadership, while also providing representation and engaging programming. Elections for SPSSG are held every Fall and Spring semester and all students are encouraged to campaign and/or vote.
Goals
SPSSG is committed to improving the quality of life for Columbia students in the School of Professional Studies through:
- Providing funding for student-led academic initiatives and student groups.
- Acting as a link between the students and administration, as well as advocating on behalf of graduate students when necessary.
- Organizing social and cultural events for all SPS students, such as Orientation events, socials, and others.
- Advocating broader societal issues and organizing community-building events.
